Flash Flooding
Williamson County is located in Flash Flood Alley, we tend to get all of our rain over short periods of time. This can create flash flooding in areas that are not typically prone to flooding as well as creeks and other water ways.
Fortunately flash flooding usually doesn't last too long unless its fueled by a rare tropical system.
It doesn't take much water moving quickly to cause problems. It's dangerous to attempt to drive through moving water and it's illegal to cross low water crossings when closed. Don't get washed away it's just not worth it.
Wait it out instead and don't travel if you can help it. You can track road closures at
ATXfloods.com
.and check rainfall at our dams
here.
