Our region is growing faster than ever. The District’s earthen dams built over 60 years ago as the most effective flood protection for the rural area are now in a hot spot of rapid urbanization.Neighborhoods and businesses now nestle at the foot of the dams.
The District is starting a new tradition in an effort to keep old-timers and new-comers alike educated and informed about the region’s dams, flooding, and the flood solutions we and our partners bring to southwest Williamson County. We published a newsletter that will help you stay informed about District activities. In this first annual addition, we spent a little extra-time introducing the District, sharing our history, and looking toward the future.
As we move forward, our future annual newsletter and other outreach will focus on:
- building a foundation of dam safety awareness,
- our efforts to maintain, and where practicable, increase our watershed’s flood resiliency, and
- ensuring transparency documenting our fiscal and operational responsibilities.
